The Kapllan Pasha Tomb, known as Tyrbja e Kapllan Pashës in Albanian, is a Muslim tomb (türbe) located at the center of Tirana. It was originally part of Sylejman Pasha Mosque, which was destroyed during the Second World War. The complex used to consist of six similar tyrbes, two of which were built for the Ottoman administrator himself and his son; however, only Kapllan Pasha’s tomb survives today.

Kapllan Pasha’s remains were later exhumed and reburied in Istanbul. Despite being empty today, the structure still serves as an important cultural monument as it is a reminder of the first Tirana mosque. The monument has recently been restored in order to preserve its original appearance from when it was first built in early 19th century. The octagonal-shaped structure is four metres tall and decorated with carved stones on its columns placed on stone bases and capitals with plant decor on the surface.

It is believed that the former ruler of Tirana was interred here in the 19th century before being repatriated back to Istanbul some time later.

Today, this monument stands as a testament to Tirana’s rich history and religious diversity. Visitors are invited to explore this site and discover more about its past and significance within Albanian culture and tradition.
